A Biblical Standpoint On Christians and the New Law

I want to start this off by saying this:

I do NOT have an issue with Gays or Lesbians. I trained a horse for two guys and they were some of the best clients I have had. To be honest, those two guys were probably my favorite clients just because they were easy to work with, they were kind, they helped where they could, and they were just great to be around. I knew a lady who was a friend of a friend and client that was a riot to talk to! I very much enjoyed her company and she would rattle off many stories about other gays and lesbians and drag queens that she would come across. She lent me her Canon when I was looking to buy a camera and my mom and I helped her with horses and she helped me with my dog. I also have a friend of mine who is a lesbian, she’s got kids and a whole life of her own.  So in all of this post, please understand, I have NOTHING against Gays or Lesbians. They are all people and all deserving of equal treatment. I am simply stating my standpoint from a biblical perspective. Honestly, I don’t even like putting stuff like this out there because all it does is work everyone up. However, the topic that I’m getting at, isn’t the marriage between a man and man or woman and woman. It’s more angled at Christians who are encouraging same-sex marriage.

Now that I have that out, I want to point out a couple things from a biblical standpoint.

Genesis 1:27 So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female he created them.

Genesis 19:4-5 Before they had gone to bed, all the men from every part of the city of Sodom—both young and old—surrounded the house. They called to Lot, “Where are the men who came to you tonight? Bring them out to us so that we can have sex with them.” (the Reason Sodom was destroyed).

Mark 10:6-9 But from the beginning of creation, God made them male and female. For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh, so then they are no longer two, but one flesh. Therefore what God has joined together let not man separate.

Leviticus 20:13 If a man lies with a male as a woman, both of them have committed an abomination. They shall surely be put to death. Their blood shall be upon them

1 Corinthians 6:9 Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals, nor sodomites, nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners will inherit the kingdom of God.

Let’s look at the story of God destroying Sodom and Gomorrah in Genesis chapters 18-19 and in Jude verse 7 “As Sodom and Gomorrah, and the cities around them in a similar manner of these, having given themselves over to sexual immorality and gone after strange flesh, are set forth as an example, suffering the vengeance of eternal fire.

Now, granted, the raining down of fire on Sodom and Gomorrah and the scripture from Leviticus are Old Testament and now after Christ’s death and resurrection there is much more forgiveness and love and grace for people who are truly repentant of ANY “sin.” Whether it’s homosexuality, stealing, lying, adultery, drunkenness, or anything of the sort.

1 Corinthians 6:10 And such were some of you. But you were washed, but you were sanctified, but you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus and by the Spirit of our God.

However, from the standpoint of someone who believes the Bible and is trying to follow in the footsteps of Yahweh, it is not a biblical lifestyle. I have been told that I need to get into the Word and check myself and I have… So my challenge to that is this. Get into the Bible and find me ONE passage that says God Agrees with or Loves homosexuality…. Because I can’t find one. Yes! He LOVES the person but not the sin. We are called to love no matter what, doesn’t matter your lifestyle, your beliefs, your skin color, it doesn’t matter, if it is a living breathing person we are called to love everyone. Even those who hurt us. And to those who have said that the Bible says nothing about homosexuality, look up those scriptures that I listed… It’s right there plain as day.

I’m not even trying to say we can’t be friends with them sure, we can be friends with them. We can even be supportive in every other area of their life. But when a small child lies, you don’t tell them, “It’s ok honey,” and pat them on the back… You love them as they are and support them, but you don’t have to condone the way they live.

Honestly I was going to keep my mouth shut about the whole thing because what is my opinion worth on a topic like this? I don’t want to upset anyone or hurt anyone. But then I saw a young lady who has said to be a person strong in the Lord who was excited that same-sex marriage was finally passed nationwide and then I had to say something. Simply because as people following in the forgotten ways of Yahweh, we should not be encouraging it. At least not in my opinion. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying she’s not a follower of God or she isn’t a Christian, no, no, no… I know this woman and she’s been an inspiration to me as far as my walk with God goes.

The Bible says all sins are equal… To me, legalizing same-sex marriage, it’s almost like legalizing thievery. Just because as a “nation” (I can guarantee several states are not happy with the decision) we have decided to legalize it, doesn’t make it right.

However, to those who have little to no tolerance for gays and lesbians they are people just as you are. No they may not have the same lifestyle, but they are simply trying to get through life just as you and I. So love them, even if you don’t agree with them. Just because your kid or your parent or your spouse disagrees with you, doesn’t mean you are going to disown them. Find a little compassion in your heart and love them anyway.

To those who say they are Christian, I have given you my thought, backed up by scripture… It is now up to you. And I challenge you, if you question my viewpoint, number one, that’s ok… I know not everyone agrees with me and that’s ok. Number two, get into the bible, look at those scriptures, find a concordance and look up the meanings of the words…

My note to anyone who may know me, that may be gay or lesbian (whether I know or not). Just because I have written all this, doesn’t mean I won’t love you. I wrote this to get at the Biblical side of things. To make a point to the Christians who are encouraging something that outright goes against the bible. I am in no way trying to attack your lifestyle or point fingers. You all are bright and wonderful people!

Have a Great week!

God Bless,

Jessica

Also, if anyone is going to comment on this, please know, I’m tired of all the name calling and defensiveness that has been being displayed over the past several days… So if you comment, in the words of Thumper “If you can’t say something nice… Don’t say nothing at all.” Please comment with respect and love 🙂 Thank you!
